Starting in April 2016, the federal government is switching all its payments to direct deposit. All tax refunds, GST credit, child benefits, EI, CPP, and OAS cheques will potentially be cancelled and replaced by direct deposits. While we don’t know how strictly this will be enforced, we advise all of our clients to sign up for direct deposit for the convenience and security.
You can either call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 or mail in a form, or we can do it for you. Just bring a void cheque or your banking information when we file your taxes and we will update your account with no problems.
